Trigger Warning: Miscarriage, Stillbirth, Severe Mental Illness
It is about a woman who has a miscarriage late in her pregnancy, and the disasterous fallout that her subsequent mental illness has upon her life.
Theatre and/or Dance departments are encouraged to collaborate heavily with their student set, prop, and costume designers to bring the story to life. While the tale of LULLAY can be told through minimalist design, each theatre department is encouraged to make it their own through the details they choose to put upon the stage. All interpretations, including whether the pregnancy was lost through miscarriage or some other situation, is entirely up to the producers, directors, and other artists creating each individual production of LULLAY.
LULLAY is entirely nonverbal. This unique playwrighting choice gives directors and choreographers the opportunity to develop stage business and actor interactions in order to tell their version of LULLAY's story. The run time of this play can be anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on each director's staging choices.
