Auditions for BSS 2023 Touring Season
Check Out Our Season AnnouncementWe will be holding auditions in February!
The upcoming shows are As You Like It, Romeo and Juliet, Henry the Fifth, and Shenanalogues. Go ahead and familiarize yourself with those shows (at least the synopses), email us if you have any questions, and join our mailing list so that we can let you know when we have our official January audition times and venues in place. Bare Bones Shakespeare pays our actors and collaborators, because, you know, art is a job. Our company model works best if every actor is willing to perform in every show (this does not mean that you have to be available for every performance, just that you learn at least one role in each of our current touring shows). Our understudies receive full pay and we take them on the road with us whenever possible. Learning Hal Five is optional. We also recommend joining our newsletter! |
Audition InstructionsWhen you arrive for your audition, please have a one-to-two minute monologue memorized. We prefer that the monologue be in verse from an early modern play (Shakespeare or contemporaries). Dress to move, bring water, and expect to stay for 30-60 minutes. All auditionees will need to submit proof of COVID vaccination. If you must be late or you need to cancel or change your audition time, please email BareBonesShakespeare@gmail.com or call (469) 701-3228.
Every Bare Bones Shakespeare production is an ensemble show, and every actor (yes, EVERY actor) is cast in multiple roles. We are all about teamwork and learning from each other. The actors work together with the director as a vibrant creative team to craft the production. Bare Bones Shakespeare is particularly known for its audience interaction and adaptability, therefore actors with improvisation, street theatre, and/or devised production experience tend to thrive in our environments. We particularly encourage LGBTQ, BIPOC and disabled actors to audition. (Learn more about our inclusion efforts here) |
